Why would I use the EAP?

We all have times when we worry about our work, family, and/or personal lives. Some times are more stressful than others, and it is only natural that feeling overwhelmed causes increased stress which interferes with our coping abilities. It is during these times that you may need to talk with someone - a professional, trained to listen and help you with the problems you are facing. Your employer understands this and is providing a service for you called an employee assistance program (EAP). EAPs are individually contracted with companies. Please find the specifics regarding your EAP by logging in under your company access code and selecting "My EAP Benefit".

Who will pay for this service?

The EAP is a benefit to you paid for by your employer. There is not a charge to you during the designated number of EAP counseling sessions.

Who do I call with other questions I might have?

Please feel free to use the discussion board on this Web site to ask additional questions. When you enter the discussion board module, you will establish your own user name and password thus creating an identity which is totally anonymous. This system protects your confidentiality while asking questions or finding the closest counselor.
You may also call 721-9320 (Missoula) or 1-800-322-9320 (Life Care Services, long distance) Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. MST and talk with the Program Administrator to discuss any questions you may have.

When should I call an EAP counselor?

Research indicates earlier is better. However, it is never too late. If in doubt, call. Assistance is just a phone call away by dialing (406) 721-9320 (Missoula, Montana)) or 1-800-322-9320 (Monday-Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. MST).

What if I need more counseling sessions than are allowed under the EAP?

You and your counselor will discuss this as you near the end of the allowed number of EAP sessions. Through your discussions, decisions will be made regarding future sessions with the same therapist or referral to other community agencies and/or professionals.

If my company is paying for this service, will anyone there know I am using this service?

No one at your place of employment will know that you or any member of your family is receiving counseling services. Confidentiality is of the utmost importance. There is no need for your employer to have identifying information unless you choose to share it.

How does this service enhance the EAP?

By browsing this web site, employees and family members can learn more about the counselors available to them in/near their location. This web site also offers the added benefit of accessing a secure, moderated 'discussion board' where questions can be submitted which will be answered within a working day. These questions might range from "How many counseling sessions am I allowed under our EAP?" to "Are there community resources in Glendive, Montana, to help my mother?" Questions may be work related or of a personal nature.

How can I be assured the EAP counselors are qualified to work with me?

Life Care Services (LCS) contracts with licensed clinical professional counselors, certified chemical dependency counselors, and licensed clinical social workers who are highly trained and skilled in assessing and counseling. Therapists have several years of experience in effectively counseling others who have faced situations such as yours.

Can I see an EAP counselor for any problem?

Yes, you can call for an appointment when facing issues related to family, parenting, work, financial, marital, addiction, or others not listed here.
